2007 SCORE Baja 500
Scott and Brady both gave it their all at the 500 and the result was a 1st place finish and a move up to second place in SCORE Lite points. Here's a quick summary of the race.
At RM 186, 1217 (Potter) was shown 1 minute ahead
of Scott on corrected time. Scott had no down time and fuel stop at Valle de
Trinidad was very quick. By Check 3 Scott had physically passed at least 52
cars, per Rally Track. In addition, he passed at least two more 10's and
1202 before he handed off to Brady at RM 244. With motorcycles and quads
thrown in, Scott must have passed more than 60 vehicles by driver change.

Scott came into the driver change in front of all Class 10's and Class 12's. 1206 and 1217 were on same minute on corrected time at RM 244 (Driver change) and continued dead even for another 100 miles through RM 345 (HWY 1 north of Santo Tomas). Due to Scott's "heavy lifting", Brady was running in clean air and quickly learning how to drive the 12 car. Brady experienced a rear flat after dropping the right rear into a large washout on the outside of a high speed left turn about 3 miles before the planned fuel stop, approximately RM 280. Flat was driven to pit and tire was changed in conjunction with fuel stop.
The car experienced power steering problems shortly
after dropping off HWY 1 north of Urapan and lost physical lead as 1217 and
1008 passed while Brady was attempting to repair problem with power
steering. Shortly after getting passed he got back on the road and drove o
n
to a Vildosola pit who took approx. 4 minutes to add power steering fluid
and check car over for problems. Somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes was lost
between the two stops. Only 3 or 4 miles after receiving power steering
fluid and getting car back to 100%, 1206 retook physical lead over 1217 who
had stopped on course to change a flat tire.
With somewhere around 40-50 miles to finish, 1206 was in second place approx. 3-4 minutes on corrected time. 1206 sprouted wings and simply flew to the finish with Brady hangin' on for his life! 1206 made up 12 minutes by the finish line and took the win 9 minutes in front of 1217 and also beating the winning Class 10 by two and a half minutes.
We'd like to thank everyone that helped us out. The Vildosola race team, Pete Boyd and his crew, the Ashcraft Racing guys that helped with the flat at San Vicente, F&L Racing fuel, Major Performance and anyone else who took part in getting the car to the finish on top of all the limited cars. We'll see how we fair with two Wisdom Racing vehicles at the Terrible's Cup.
